Sitting on the toilet can be one of the most intimate moments of a person's day, so being attacked by a wild animal with your pants down can be a traumatic experience.
One man in Thailand experienced the horror firsthand. Thanat Thangtewanon from Bangkok was sitting on the toilet on August 20 when he sensed something was terribly wrong.
“I felt something biting my balls. It was very painful so I put my hands in the toilet to see what was wrong. I was shocked to be holding a snake,” he said. Asia Pacific Express” .“I got up and pulled it out. It hurt, really hurt, and there was blood everywhere, but I was even more shocked when I found a python in the toilet.”
He was able to kill the reticulated python by beating it with a toilet brush. He immediately went to the hospital and got a tetanus shot. Fortunately, the python's bite was not deep enough to cut the skin, so no stitches were needed and he is expected to heal in a few weeks.
Thangtewanon, for his part, is happy that the situation is not worse than it could have been.
“My testicles are safe now,” he said. “I'm lucky it wasn't a poisonous snake. A cobra would have killed me.”
Still, she's a little afraid to use the crime scene bathroom. “I haven't used that bathroom since,” she said. “Every time I go, I check what's in there and put a brush in there just to be sure.”
