In 1858, a young, eccentric governess named Winifred Notty (Margaret Qualley) arrives at a remote Gothic mansion known as Ensor House. Winifred's duties include teaching the children table manners and teaching them about their family history while hiding her psychopathic tendencies. As Winifred assimilates into life at Ensor House, staff members begin to inexplicably disappear and the property owners begin to wonder if something is amiss with their new management.
Wigon expressed her excitement about portraying Winifred on the big screen and praised Feiton's script, which is marketed as a psychodrama full of blood and mystery. Qualley and Kagan also released statements sharing their enthusiasm for the project. They said:
Wigan:
As soon as I discovered this completely insane and unforgettable character, I knew I had to introduce moviegoers to Winifred Notti. I'm thrilled that the utterly fearless Margaret Qualley will bring this complex anti-hero to vivid life. Virginia Feiton's screenplay is a bold mix of psychodrama, satire, gore and mystery. I can't wait to make Victoria Psycho with horror aficionado producer Dan Kagan and support from Anton and Anonymous.
Kagan:
From the first few pages to the terrifying ending, Victorian Psycho absolutely delivers on its promise to be a ride unlike anything I've read before. I couldn't be more excited to bring this film to life with our partners at Anton and Anonymous.Qualley:
Working with Zach [Wigon] again, it feels like a rare gift and I can't wait to step into this twisted world he's created.
What This Means for Victoria Psycho and Margaret Qualley
Victoria Could Be A Great Opportunity For Psycho Qualley
Qualley now has a strong career after appearing on screen in Shane Black Beautiful Children and then Tarantino's Once upon a time… in Hollywood. This year alone, he starred in many films by famous directors, including Ethan Coen's. Drive-Away Dolls and Yorgos Lanthimos Types of Kindness. She also starred in a body horror film Itemreleased last month and currently holds an impressive 91% Rotten Tomatoes score from critics.. Screen Rant's Patrice Witherspoon gave Item an impressive five stars.
While the movie is still in its early stages, the book it's based on won't be out until February 2025. Victoria Psycho Sounds like another worthy platform for Qualley to showcase his talents. He has proven his range with his filmography so far, especially with the Netflix limited series servant. with Victoria Psycho and seemingly sophisticated antihero, Qualley will get another opportunity to show off his chops in a genre he has yet to perform. The addition of names like Wigon and Kagan is also reassuring because Sanctuary and Long-legged ones both are acclaimed films.
Understanding Our Victorian Psycho
It Can Be Compared to Gone Girl
As a fan of Gothic horror, I'm excited for both Feyton's book and its adaptation. It is believable to see Feyton adapting the novelbrings Gone Girl's writer and screenwriter Gillian Flynn comes to mind. hopefully Victoria Psycho will act as a suitable platform Gone Girl it did for Rosamund Pike, who played a complex but compelling character. Victoria PsychoWinifred Notty sounds like she's cut from the same cloth and should be a dark but fun character for Qualley.
