While the Brocks are currently embroiled in a family civil war, Meridius, an evil temporary version of Eddie Brock, has unleashed an army of zombified symbiotes that not only overpower the will of their victims, but turn them into physically painful monsters.

She-Hulk is left behind, struggling to figure out if the victims of Meridius' zombie attack are worth saving.
Aptly named “Zombiotes” by the protagonist Hellcat, savagely snarling creatures invade the streets of New York City. heroes and villains fight to save civilians from being turned into parasitic beasts. When all it takes is one bite, it seems almost impossible for anyone, especially street-level heroes like Hellcat, to stop the fast-spreading infection. As these monsters are armed with mediocre symbiotic powers, even distance cannot save the innocent from the zombiots' web-like clutches.
To make matters worse for the Big Apple, the zombies can effortlessly harness the powers of any superhuman they infect. After a zombie grabs and bites a Speed Demon, the zombified monster that emerges can take full advantage of the villain's acceleration powers, leaving no humans out of reach. Meanwhile, She-Hulk is left behind with Overdrive and Shocker struggling to figure out if the victims of Meridius' zombie attack are alive enough to be worth saving. However, as hordes of undead monsters continue to overwhelm unsuspecting allies, She-Hulk may have no choice but to take them down.

By the end of this introductory issue, there seems to be no hope against the seemingly unstoppable army of zombies. Poison
Venom is a symbiotic alien entity associated with various human hosts, notably Eddie Brock and later Flash Thompson. It grants superhuman strength, agility, and a shape-shifting black suit.
