Matthew Perry's Assistant One of Five Arrested in Drug Investigation

Details have emerged of the arrests made in connection with the death of Matthew Perry, who drowned in his hot tub after taking illegal ketamine last October. The suspects include two California doctors, an alleged drug dealer known as the “ketamine queen,” an alleged narcotics distributor and Matthew Perry's personal in-home assistant. And the details are shocking, to say the least.

U.S. Attorney Martin Estrada said at a news conference on Thursday that all five defendants knew Perry was in “addiction distress” from September 2023 until his death on Oct. 28, but were more concerned with making money off the troubled actor than with his health and safety.

Accordingly TMZHis assistant, Kenneth Iwamasa, is accused of administering more than 20 ketamine injections in the last four days of Perry’s life, despite allegedly being aware that he was “out of control.” The fatal dose was reportedly sold by Jasveen Sangha, known as the Ketamine Queen, whose home was said to have appeared to be a “drug shop” when searched. Evidence authorities uncovered included 80 vials of ketamine, “thousands” of methamphetamine pills, cocaine and Xanax, and drug paraphernalia.

Perhaps the most shocking detail was an email sent by one of the defendants, reportedly asking: “I wonder how much this idiot is going to pay?” [for the ketamine]”

After receiving news of Perry’s death, Sangha allegedly contacted Erik Fleming, the drug dealer who allegedly delivered the drugs (including ketamine lollipops) to Iwamasa, telling him to “delete all our messages.”

“These defendants took advantage of Mr. Perry's addiction problems to enrich themselves. They knew what they were doing was wrong,” Estrada said at the news conference. “They knew what they were doing posed a great danger to Mr. Perry, but they did it anyway. In the end, these defendants were more interested in profiting from Mr. Perry than they were in caring about his well-being.”

According to legal documents, Iwamasa pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute ketamine, causing death and serious bodily injury, and faces up to 15 years in prison. Fleming also faces up to 25 years in prison for his role in Perry's death. However, prosecutors agreed to seek reduced sentences based on their “acceptance of responsibility and cooperation in the investigation” in exchange for plea deals.
