McDonald's Makes Big Announcement About Popular Value Meal

Good news for those who love fast food deals! McDonald's has decided to extend its popular $5 Meal Deal, this time until December.

When the fast food chain introduced the affordable meal in late June, it was initially planned to only last for four weeks, leaving many budget-friendly customers disappointed. The deal includes a choice of a McChicken or a McDouble, along with a four-piece Chicken McNuggets, a small order of fries and a drink. However, after it gained widespread popularity, McDonald's decided in July to keep it until August.

Accordingly CNBCfranchisees are voting on whether to extend the value meal beyond August, with about 80% of local markets participating. But the vote is still being taken, so it’s possible additional locations could be added in the future.

“We and our franchisees are committed to keeping our prices as affordable as possible, so we're looking for even more ways to save,” said Joe Erlinger, President, McDonald's USA. made a statement.

McDonald’s introduced the meal deal at a time when many fast-food chains are scrambling to lure inflation-weary customers back to their restaurants with value promotions. And needless to say, the strategy worked. A study published in July found that on June 25, the day the promotion was launched, the chain had its busiest day of the year, seeing eight percent more visits than on an average Tuesday since the beginning of the year.

In addition to the $5 Meal Deal, McDonald’s plans to offer additional local promotions in the coming weeks and months. To access the deals, customers can use the McDonald’s mobile app.
