McDonald's New Happy Meal Toys Combine Two Nostalgic Fan Favorites

Earlier this week, McDonald's introduced a new limited-edition Happy Meal toy line that brings together two nostalgic fan favorites.

On Tuesday, the chain began rolling out a toy set in the United States that has captivated much of the world. McDonald's introduced a collection of nine plush toys that combine Sanrio's Hello Kitty series and the Yu-Gi-Oh! universe. The meals also come in a special “gift” box with a picture of one of the nine characters on the side.

“In your Happy Meal today. Probably on eBay for $500 in a week,” joked Guillaume Huin, McDonald's senior marketing manager, when announcing the new toys.

As predicted, the toys have already entered the resale market, where they are making a significant profit, as are the McDonald's collectible cups that come with adult Happy Meals. Individual plushies sell for $10 to $20, while sets of nine can go for as much as $100.

The limited-edition collaboration debuted in Europe in May and has been rolling out in South America, Central America, and Mexico before hitting the states. As a result, American McDonald's fans have had plenty of time to get excited about the franchise's latest offering.

“So exciting! I've been waiting for these since they were announced overseas months ago,” one excited customer wrote on Reddit. “I managed to grab Kuriboh and Blue-Eyes at one location and Dark Magician at another.”

You can head to your nearest McDonald's branch to start assembling your own kit.
