The internet is full of products marketed to make your life easier, safer and healthier; whether it's a new skin-care device designed to reduce wrinkles or a kitchen accessory you hope will help you increase your vegetable intake. If you've ever bought something like this, there's a good chance you've used it once or twice and now it's languishing in your cupboards.
But Harmony Coin may be different. Developed for the purpose of purifying water, the compact coin (which fits into most water bottles) is made of silver and copper and is incredibly easy to use. If you don't already know, silver and copper both have antimicrobial properties that can help attack bacteria and viruses when released into water. Therefore, both materials have historically been used as a way to keep water clean and safe to drink.

Take, for example, the pioneers on the American frontier. They were known to put silver or copper coins into water barrels to ensure the contents remained drinkable. Eventually, kitchen utensils began to be made from silver instead of dangerous lead. NASA even investigated silver as an antimicrobial agent, and these findings later informed ways the technology could be used commercially (in pools, hospitals, in-home water filters, etc.). Now there is Harmony Coin.
Here's how it works. All you have to do is put a single coin in any water container (like the water bottle that sits next to your desk every day, the water container in your refrigerator, or your hiking backpack that might need a good cleaning), fill it, and shake it a few times. After this, the water is said to go through an effortless, natural purification process. The coin can then be left in the bottle for subsequent refills.
While Coin of Harmony is no easier to use, the company warns there is potential for ingestion; so it's best to keep it out of reach of young children or anyone who might be at risk. It is also shared that although the coin is built to last for years, repeated use can cause the copper side of the Coin of Harmony to become slightly darker (patina process) and the silver side to become slightly foggy (or tarnished).
