Second Android CentralDeveloper Ready at Dawn no longer exists.
The elimination of the study was reportedly done to maintain the equally struggling Reality Labs within the new budget constraints. A Meta representative also told the outlet that these cuts did not herald a broader elimination for its first-party studios.
Ready at Dawn was founded in 2003 by former Naughty Dog and Blizzard Entertainment students Ru Weerasuriya, Andrea Pessino, and Didier Malenfant. Appropriately enough, the studio's debut title was Daxter, a PlayStation Portable spin-off of Naughty Dog's platformer series.
In the first half of its life, the studio created PSP spin-offs (and bundles) for Sony Santa Monica's God of War franchise and Nintendo Wii ports for Okay. In 2015 he launched his original project: PlayStation 4 The Order: 1886.
After the multiplayer fighting game for consoles Deformers In 2017, Ready at Dawn pivoted to virtual reality. In the same year, it simultaneously released the adventure games Echo Arena AND Lonely Echo for Meta Quest and Oculus Rift.
Oculus Studios acquired the studio in 2020, where he created Eco Combat AND Solitary Echo IILast year, together with fellow developer Downpour Interactive cut staff as part of a larger Meta renovation.
Around this time last year, Echo VR was closed so that Ready at Dawn could focus on “other projects” that will now never materialize.
This marks the second study to close today, preceded by the Finnish study Shipyard Games.
