Michael Bublé Admits Super Bowl Commercial Copied From 'SNL'

Michael Bublé comes clean about the 2019 Super Bowl ad for his startup Bubly sparkling water. Sound Koç now admits that a drawing was ripped from his 2010 drawing Saturday Night Live appearance.

The Canadian singer and songwriter discussed this issue with these words: Late Night Our host this week was Seth Meyers, who wrote the manuscript in question. Bublé was Jon Hamm's musical guest when he hosted the season 35 episode, and the duo played fictional versions of themselves in a bit about a restaurant called “Hamm & Bublé” that serves—you guessed it—pork products and champagne. The crux of the sketch, of course, was the mispronunciation of Bublé's name to sound like “bubbly.”

“I remember being so excited when I read it. I thought, 'This is so funny. This is so good,'” Bublé said of the sketch, which Meyers admits is one of his favorite things he's ever written.

Years later, Bublé said he got a call from his manager about doing a Super Bowl commercial for PepsiCo, which introduced the fizzy drink in 2018. the product encourages him to take the job.

“So I said, 'Okay, whatever the concept is, send it to me,'” Bublé recalled. “They sent me the concept and my first thought was, 'You stole this from Seth!' happened.” “Can I tell you something funny?” Meyers asked. “That was my first reaction too!”

“It was so funny when I saw it because someone said, 'They stole this from you!' The presenter continued: 'I just pronounced the name differently. It wasn't like that… I got there quite naturally.'

But all joking aside, everything worked out in the end because Bublé said he still works with the brand to this day. “I still can't get this right, Bublé, Bubly… But when you mix it with my drink, it tastes good,” he joked, referring to the brand of whiskey Fraser & Thompson.
