NYC’s Dweller festival announces lineup for 2024

Dweller, the annual electronic music festival that aims to highlight Black DJsand showcase artists in electronic music, dance and techno, announced its lineup on Wednesday.

This year’s festival will run from Feb. 20 through Feb. 25 at various clubs across the city and will feature more than 80 DJs and musical artists, including rising singer-songwriter KeiyaA, alternative R&B artist Liv.e, and Brooklyn-based rapper Niontay.

Other names on the lineup include DJ BlackPower, an alias for underground New York rapper MIKE; British DJ Josey Rebelle; Brooklyn-based singer Embaci; DJ Kush Jones; producer Tim Reaper; and Brooklyn-based DJ Freedem.

This year’s festival will kick off with an opening ceremony at MoMA PS1.

Other venues participating in Dweller include Bossa Nova Civic Club, Public Records, and Cafe Erzulie in Brooklyn; and Basement and Nowadays in Queens.

For those with stamina, there’s a 24-hour party starting on Saturday, Feb. 24 at Nowadays that will include live performances from Detroit-based DJ Theo Parrish, dance artist Suzi Analogue, Atlanta-based artist Zaida Zane, and Brooklyn-based DJ Donis.

Frankie Hutchinson, who founded the Dweller Festival in 2019, wrote in an email to Gothamist that even if people don’t know all the artists they should, “take a leap of faith perhaps see an artist you’ve never seen before. Take an adventure.”

Hutchinson said the festival is an “attempt at justice for Black folks being overwhelmingly left out of every other festival and the dance/electronic industry at large.”

Dweller Festival will take place at various venues across New York City starting Feb. 20 through Feb. 25. Ticket prices vary but many shows start around $23. For more information visit here.
