Oasis Reunion News Sparks Jokes and Suspicion Among Fans

Noel and Liam Gallagher have officially frozen over with the announcement that they plan to reunite Oasis for a summer tour in 2025. But after the news was incredibly leaked online, many fans aren’t getting their hopes up in the least.

The brothers announced the reunion tour, which will include four shows at London's Wembley Stadium as well as stops in Cardiff, Edinburgh, Dublin and the band's hometown of Manchester, England, on social media early Tuesday. Tickets for the tour, which runs from July 4 to August 17, 2025, will go on sale August 31.

“The guns have fallen silent,” the band writes in a rather cryptic social media post. “The stars have aligned. The great wait is over. Come see. It will not be televised.”

The last time Oasis performed together was in 2009. However, shortly after abruptly cancelling a set at a music festival near Paris in August 2009, Noel announced the band's departure on his website. “It is with some sadness and a huge relief… I have left Oasis tonight,” he wrote. “People will write and say what they want, but I simply could not continue working with Liam for another day.”

In the more than a decade since then, the famous siblings have been met with vitriolic barbs in the media, with Noel saying: Rolling stone “Oasis are over. If you missed them, that's bad luck,” he wrote just five years ago in 2019.

“I think if he had any brains he would play a lot more [Oasis songs] “Because his own music is terrible,” Noel, who was on tour alone at the time, said of Liam's rival tour. “One of us is still stuck in the Nineties, dressed like a fisherman, like he's going to Norway to fish for sardines. He makes simple music for simple people. That's not really my style, so there's no competition.”

It's unclear what happened between the brothers to finally get over their bad blood, but with the upcoming tour nearly a year away, fans have flooded social media with jokes and suspicions

“Anyone who buys Oasis tickets for anything other than opening night is taking a bit of a risk,” said UK-based television critic Ian Hyland.

Others doubted that the brothers would be able to avoid personally attacking each other for making the demonstrations happen, with one user reminding the internet of a particularly savage online debate from a few years ago.

Still, at least some fans expressed cautious optimism for the upcoming tour.

It will certainly be interesting to see if Liam and Noel can put their differences aside and see if an Oasis tour actually comes to fruition. In the meantime, hopefully both brothers have gotten some much-needed therapy from the looks of it.
