Officials responding to Bronx building’s ‘structural collapse’: NYPD

An emergency response was underway due to the “structural collapse” of a building in the Bronx on Monday afternoon, officials said.

Emergency personnel were responding to the scene in the vicinity of 172 West Burnside Ave., Osborne Place and Phelan Place. The NYPD said that all available units are responding and to avoid the area. The city Office of Emergency Management described the building as a six-story mixed use building with 52 residential units and six commercial units.

An FDNY spokesperson at the scene told Gothamist the corner of the building had collapsed. In a tweet, the FDNY said officials had no reports of injuries, but are using K-9 teams to search for any people.

There were no immediate reports of injuries.
