Photograph Spectroscopy (2) info

The mobile App “Photograph Spectroscopy” is intentionally designed for education purposes in the lab courses of a) GEST3017/PHYS3017 Green Energy Lab with Computers with Smart Devices, b) PHYS3026 Instrumentation and Data Acquisition Lab, c) PHYS7360 Green Lab of Department of Physics at Hong Kong Baptist University; but all others are welcome to use the App free of charge.

Procedure to Use the App

i. Take a photo which contains the spectral information of light (e.g. white LED light with colors spatially separated by a sheet of holographic grating);

ii. In the Photograph Spectroscopy App, select the photo;

iii. Draw a rectangle to enclose all the visible light (note: this step is for wavelength calibration, where visible light is assumed to be 0.4 < lambda < 0.76 um).

iv. The spectrum (intensity against wavelength) of the light will be generated. Try to explore the spectrum with a cursor and enjoy the App.

v. You may even share your spectral data (e.g. email the spectral data to yourself).
