A new cooperative card game pits a group of players against a series of increasingly difficult enemies in a Dark Souls-style test of survival.
Regicide Legacy is an upcoming board game in which players will work together as a group of adventurers embarking on a series of quests that will take them across the unforgiving land of Deccaria.
The original Regicide is a fantasy game that takes place entirely on a deck of cards, in which players must combine their hands of cards to defeat a gallery of corrupt monarchists. Each round, players face a new enemy, who they must attempt to defeat by playing cards. The number of the card that players select will determine how much damage their attack will inflict on their enemy, as well as what special ability they will activate.
Enemies in Regicide will have an increasing amount of health that players will need to whittle down quickly enough to avoid taking too much damage and being defeated, as when a player loses all of their health, the game ends in defeat. Some of the tougher enemies in Regicide will have immunity to certain types of cards that players will need to work around in order to take them down. Players will win if they manage to defeat the king.

Regicide Legacy is a campaign-style retelling of the original Regicide, offering players a way to play through a series of interconnected missions with an overarching narrative. Over the course of a series of 12 missions, each lasting between 30-40 minutes, players will have to face off against a group of intimidating enemies that, similar to the popular Dark Souls video game series, will become increasingly difficult to defeat, to the point where players will likely find themselves defeated and have to attempt to defeat them once again.
They won't be fighting alone, though, as they'll have a whole group of allies at their side. Each card that players will have access to has a hero listed on it. Each number in the cooperative card game is inspired by a different category of classic fantasy hero, including: animal companions, gnomes, halflings, dwarves, and elves.
Similar to Dungeons & Dragons, each player will have a group of heroes with different types of roles, who have their own strengths and abilities that players can use against their enemies. Players will need to think carefully about not only how much damage they will do against an enemy, but also what kind of special ability they want to activate for that round, whether it's a cleric to heal, a bard to inspire, or a warrior to increase damage done.

Each mission is considered successful when players defeat their main enemy, and the party receives a reward package for each mission they complete, which will unlock new cards to use on the next mission. When players are defeated, they will gain the aid of a powerful mercenary ally to use on their next attempt.
Regicide Legacy was created and will be published by Badgers from Mars, the studio responsible for the creation and publication of the original Regicide. The game's design was created by Sketch Goblin, the illustrator behind the previous Regicide's design.
The Regicide Legacy crowdfunding campaign will remain on Kickstarter until June 7, with backers able to pick up a copy of the game for NZ$100 (£53/$60) in March 2025.
