A well-designed inflatable sleeping bag is essential for a good night's sleep at the campsite, but the type of sleeping bag you choose is just as important. Traditional rectangular sleeping bags may not be as stylish or lightweight as today's mummy-style sleeping bags, but they offer extra space and are much more comfortable for sleepers in different positions. Good ones can be pricey, but right now one of REI's top-rated Nemo models is cheaper than half its original price.

Sleeping bags are of course an essential outdoor gear to have when heading out into the wilderness for a night or two, but some of the mummy bags made for backpacking can be limiting. This Nemo bag is rectangular so it's much more comfortable. It may seem simple, but the brand has added a few quirks and features to the recycled synthetic Jazz that make it stand out. Extra features include a built-in sheet that you can remove and wash, a lightweight insulated pad cover that gives you a little extra cushion and keeps your sleeping pad in place all night, dual zipper pulls on both sides, and a soft draft. Collar to help regulate temperatures. The overall design features a slight taper at both the head and foot of the bag to reduce weight and bulk while providing maximum roominess and warmth.
Happy customers raved about how roomy and comfortable the bag was, with one commenting that it “had plenty of space and was as comfortable as being at home.” One dog lover noted that it was big enough to sleep with a large pet: “Me and my 155-pound dog fit well in it.”
