Rick and Morty Proves Their One-Time Romance Is Still Going Strong

Warning: Spoilers ahead for Rick and Morty: 10th Anniversary Special!Rick and Morty known for her many, very messy relationships, but the show's 10th Anniversary Special just added a new one to the mix: Beth and Jerry…and Mr. Nimbus. At the end of Mort Dinner Rick Andre, the three shared an intimate experience, but now it turns out that it happens quite regularly.

When Jerry sees the Nimbus, he loudly announces: “hey! I had a threesome with that guy!” Although when it happened on screen, he and Beth didn't want Rick to find out.

Since his introduction in 2021, Mr. Nimbus is an omnisexual underwater king who manages to stand toe-to-toe with his nemesis Rick Sanchez. His design is a hilarious amalgamation of Namor the Sub-Mariner, David Bowie of the glam rock era. The Rocky Horror Picture Show Dr. Frank N Furter. He controls the sea creatures, the oceans themselves, and oddly enough, the police force. When Rick first appears to redraft the contract between land and sea, he also gave Beth and Jerry a contract – to negotiate a trio. In the post-credits scene, the couple appears at her door.

In the comics, Rick and Morty can take a backseat to other important characters, such as Mr. Meeseeks, Birdperson, or even people who have risen from the dead.

After Jerry alludes to his relationship with Nimbus, a borderline appears in the comic and breaks the fourth wall. Rick and Morty the comics are the canon of the show's universe. While it doesn't quite settle the question, it does go on to make it clear that only Beth, Jerry, and Nimbus continue to stay in touch, but they do this between every scene of the show. Given the emotional rollercoaster of Jerry and Beth's marriage, it always promises to be awkward; within that Anniversary Special, Beth searches the internet to see if it's normal to divorce the same person twice.

The frequency with which Morty's parents see Mr. Nimbus shouldn't be taken literally (how would they have time to do anything else), but it does reflect his rich world-building. Rick and Morty comics come to life when the show isn't timed. In the comics, Rick and Morty can take a backseat to other important characters, such as Mr. Meeseeks, Birdperson, or even people who have risen from the dead. It's been a wild ten years Rick and Mortybut only the comics let fans know that Jerry, Beth and Mr. Nimbus shared a three-year relationship.
