SAG-AFTRA artists and game developers will reignite negotiations next week

Almost three months after video game voice actors went on strikeSAG-AFTRA says it will resume negotiations with developers.

Next Wednesday 23 Octoberthe actors' union will resume talks with the bargaining group that represents triple-A developers like EA, Insomniac Games and Take-Two.

Beyond that, neither he nor the developers have said any further comment at this time.

A timeline of the video game actors' strike

Before the strike began in late July, SAG-AFTRA members had been bargaining with the studios for some time. The main obstacle was its use by studios Generative AIwhich could potentially replicate the voices of the actors (and potentially without their explicit consent).

With a strike previously authorized during those talks, the voice actors began picketing in earnest. Since August there have been in-person strike pickets at California offices for WB GamesEA and Disney.

During this period, EA it said the strike will not affect its production in the short term. On the contrary, Genshin Impact creator MiHoYo vaguely indicated that his game was affected.

At the end of September, SAG-AFTRA vocally denigrated voice over studio Interactive curvy. The company he worked on Genshin AND League of Legends, he was accused of attempting to “subvert” the strike by canceling a striking match and seeking non-union talent.

The union subsequently called a strike against League of Legends (who up until that point had been unimpressed) and called on his voice actors to immediately stop doing voice work for the game.

In response, Revolt he stressed that he had nothing to do with the SAG-Formosa situation and that whatever game Formosa had canceled work on was not one he was involved with.

Meanwhile, Formosa has “completely denied” SAG-AFTRA's allegations. At the time, it claimed that “no action had been taken in any way to undermine the rights of employees or unions”.

“We stand with developers, publishers, platform owners and talent to support global game development in a way that is safe and ethical for everyone,” he assured.
