Serena Williams has claimed victory countless times on the court, and the tennis legend is bidding farewell to a nasty cyst during her latest win off the court.
The 23-time Grand Slam champion shared her candid health journey this year on TikTok on October 15. In May, he noticed a swelling on his neck and went for a check-up. After an MRI, he was diagnosed with a brachial cyst.
At first she was told she didn't need to have it removed if she didn't want it, so she didn't. “But it just kept growing,” he explained. “I decided to get more tests and after three tests and a biopsy everything is still negative, but the doctors suggested I have it removed as soon as possible because it was the size of a small grapefruit and could get infected or worse, leak.”
She filmed herself preparing to have the grapefruit-sized cyst removed, admitting it was “a bit painful coming out”. “Obviously I sank for it but they had to put a drain in it because it was so much,” he explained. video. “But everything went well and I'm really happy to be working with great doctors.”
Even though she was exhausted and in pain after the procedure, the sports icon did not ignore her parenting promise. She ended the video with a shopping trip to the American Girl doll store with her six-year-old daughter, Olympia. “My mom is suffering, but my mom needs to keep showing up,” she concluded. “I'm going to go home and pass out.”
