Slipknot DJ Gives Update After 'Melts Face' in Bonfire Accident

Slipknot turntablist Sid Wilson gives an update Fox News Digital After a mysterious Instagram post was posted over the weekend in which the 47-year-old man was seen lying in a hospital bed and captioned “Moon”…

Wilson explained that it was a bonfire accident at home that led to his hospitalization. “Don't mess with fire,” he said. “It'll win every time.”

“My whole right arm is bandaged, half my left arm is bandaged. My face is melted from the nose down,” Wilson described his horrific injuries. “But the swelling has gone down and they said the face is incredible, it's regenerative, it happens very quickly, it heals very quickly,” he explained.

“I guess I've had better days,” he admitted, “but I'm alive, so I'm OK.”

Wilson said he was responsible for the injury after he set fire to a pile of discarded wood on his Iowa property, where he lives with his partner Kelly Osbourne and their one-year-old son.

“A couple of nights ago, I lit it and waited for it to burn down. So, the next day, I went to check it out to see how much of it was left, if any. And there was still a certain amount of debris on the side, so I, like an idiot, [did] “I did what I shouldn't have done, but I added a little gas,” Wilson said.

“And then I started looking for a long branch a little ways away to light it,” he continued, “and then I couldn't find one right away. So, my impatience got the better of me and I said, screw it. I'll be fine, you know what? And I squatted down and reached out and lit it and it was just, it was really humid outside, so there was still a lot of steam in there and it just… wham. It just exploded.”

Wilson jumped on his four-wheeler and “flew” towards the property.[I] “I ran into the house and said, 'We have to go!'” she recalls.

Wilson still had to drive himself to the emergency room because Osbourne didn't feel safe driving on unpaved rural roads. He went to the emergency room before being transported to the hospital.

“When I finally got to the hospital in Des Moines, I was able to let go of whatever was going to sustain me through this process,” Wilson said. “When things like this happen, you have to get into a mode where you have to get yourself to where you need to be before your body shuts down.”

“They basically bandaged the wounds and put all these fake scabs on [stuff] from the beginning [his] “They didn't hold his body until we got to the burn unit and they took the scabs off,” Osbourne said of the Des Moines hospital. Wilson was then transferred to a burn unit in Iowa City, where he was kept under observation overnight and released the next day.

“She's been absolutely priceless,” Wilson said of Osbourne. “To be here and take care of all of this for me, I really don't know what I would do if she wasn't here.”

Wilson will return for a checkup in a few days, but believes he won't need a skin graft. He still plans to perform at Slipknot's Sept. 1 show in Pryor, Oklahoma.
