In Star Wars Legends, Cerean Jedi Ki-Adi-Mundi – member Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom MenaceJedi Council – once apprenticed to Master Yoda. Ki-Adi-Mundi's canon story is slightly different; for something Acolyte It is revealed that he is older than the Legends version, actually alive during the High Republic. But surprisingly there is evidence that he is still Yoda's old Padawan. He was confirmed as Yoda's student in the second grade workbook and also in the yearbook LEGO Star Wars: The Yoda Chronicles.

Yoda is known to rarely pick on Padawans, so something about Ki-Adi-Mundi must have caught his attention. Interestingly, like Yoda's other Padawan Dooku, Ki-Adi-Mundi is known to be quite skilled with a lightsaber; Like Dooku, he was a practitioner of the lightsaber known as Makashi, an elegant lightsaber style that emphasized conflict and combat. This helped Ki-Adi-Mundi a bit during Order 66, as he was able to deflect several blaster bolts before being overwhelmed by unsuspecting clone troopers.
