The New Orleans Saints have had a very disappointing season so far with two wins and seven losses. It looks like it will take a miracle or some kind of divine intervention to turn their fortunes around this year. But on November 5, they unexpectedly received this blessing from none other than Pope Francis.
The Pope traveled to X to broadcast a message to his millions of followers around the world highlighting the importance of Catholic Church saints. However, when a hashtag was used for the word “saints”, the word was accompanied by the New Orleans Saints' logo, as the hashtag was apparently linked to the NFL team for the season.
“#Saints are precious pearls and are always alive and relevant because they offer a fascinating interpretation of the Bible. Their lives exemplify the Good News that Jesus brought to humanity: God is our Father, who loves everyone with unlimited love,” the pope wrote.

Naturally, NFL fans have been amused by technological curiosity and mocked the Saints' turmoil this season. This includes jokes about head coach Dennis Allen being fired yesterday after seven straight losses.
“Even the Pope is excited we fired Dennis Allen,” wrote one X user.
“The Pope has spoken. [Saints general manager] Mickey Loomis needs to be fired,” said another.
“To lose [Carolina] “The Panthers were so bad they had to call the pope,” another chimed in.
“This could turn their season around,” one person hoped.
One user pointed out the obvious: “These New Orleans Saints could definitely use divine intervention.”
It remains to be seen whether the pope's blessing will have any impact when the Saints, led by interim head coach Darren Rizzi, face the Atlanta Falcons on Nov. 10.
