Taskmaster VR is being made by new indie studio Scallywag Arcade in partnership with Avalon, the studio behind the TV show, and has you completing a variety of different tasks in locations Taskmaster fans will find very familiar. Just like the show, each task can be approached however you like, interacting with a variety of different tools and items, as long as you accomplish the goal laid out for you by the Taskmaster Greg Davies and show creator Alex Horne.

I Use VR More To Concentrate Than I Do For Actual VR

VR headsets block out the world, and that makes them perfect tools to act as a little movie theatre on your head, keeping you in the zone.

Afterward, you’re taken to the stage to receive your praise or viscous mocking, depending on how well you accomplished your task. You’re then awarded with a score and the chance to win the glorious golden bonce of Greg Davies and become a Taskmaster Champion. If you want to see the game in action, you can check out the official website or Steam page, where you can also now wishlist the title if you like what you see.

If you’re worried about being bad at the game, just know you can’t possibly do much worse than how Roisin Conaty or Joe Wilkinson performed in real life.

For the dedicated Taskmaster fans among you, you’ll be pleased to know that this isn’t just some VR game capitalizing on name recognition. Both Alex Horne and Greg Davies have signed off on the title personally, calling the game “extraordinary, brilliant, and very fun” and “a really exciting addition to the Taskmaster world” respectively. They’ve even contributed to the project themselves by voicing their characters in the game.

Even if you’ve never heard of Taskmaster, the concept of the game is pretty much something anyone can get behind. Usually, the task that contestants are made to do is fairly mundane, but the conditions in which they have to do it under are absurd to the extreme. They range from knocking over rubber ducks to making a sandwich, but scenarios often devolve into pure chaos, something which should fit quite naturally into a VR setting.

Unfortunately, we don’t have a specific release date as to when the game is going to launch, or whether it will come to other VR systems such as PS VR2. If you’re a Meta Quest owner, you can expect the game to launch within the next 12 months, but more info should be made available as soon as the developers are ready to share it.
