One of the worst books, Thai Necromancy, can be found early on Baldur's Gate 3the first law. Any party character can read the book; but before proceeding, it is important to note that it contains some obscure information. The book can provide a special buff, but only if you find a special artifact capable of unlocking it.
It becomes a magical object Dark AmethystAn object you can find under Blighted Village. The Whispering Depths here act like a dungeon with lots of spider enemies and a boss named after him. Stage Spider matriarch. After defeating this creature and its allies, you can enter the gem into a book to unlock it, allowing you to read it from your inventory at any time.

Once you get Thai Necromancy, you have two choices – either destroy it or try to read it. Reading the book can give your character some permanent buffs, but also some debuffs if you pass certain checks. You can simply destroy it using any Radiant damage source, but it summons three Shadow enemies that you and your party will have to defeat immediately.
As for what to do with Thai necromancy, the best option is to read it. Doing so will require your character check every time you turn a page of the bookdetermined by what class you are. For example, turning the first page of a book requires Wizards to make a DC 5 Intelligence check, while Bards can attempt a DC 5 Performance check instead.
Those who acquire Thay Necromancy can also give it to Gale or Astarion to gain the favor of both characters. Doing so prevents your character from using the rest of your game from the book.
Turning more pages will require higher and higher checks against your character's archetype. Regardless of how many times you pass or fail, reaching the final page gives you a passive ability called Forbidden Knowledgeto you a +1 bonus to Wisdom checks and saving throws in Baldur's Gate 3. Once a party member opens the book, no one else can read its pages.
Characters with high modifiers have the best chance of passing the three general skill checks needed to recite Thay Necromancy. Sometimes, you may need to roll up to a 20 to pass the final check, so don't be afraid to spend Inspiration to reroll if needed.
Failure of a check gives you Whispers of Madness while you are not cursing, someone else is cursing you Unfortunate Knowledge. Both curses permanently disadvantage you on Wisdom checks and threaten to corrupt your character forever. Thankfully, these curses are a Cursed spin or the Remove Curses spell learned by the casting character.

Speak with Dead can be used as a Ritual spell, it does not waste spell slots when cast. This spell can be directed at a dead body to temporarily communicate with its soul, allowing your character to ask a few questions if he is not an enemy.
Some backgrounds Baldur's Gate 3 Get inspired by reading books, especially those related to the study of occult knowledge. Later in Act 3, you'll find a way to research Thay Necromancy to gain two new abilities:
- Danse Macabre
- Tharchiate Codex: Blessing
These are obtained by obtaining The Tharchiate Codex from the Magical Sundries location in Lower Town. Danse Macabre is a powerful Necromancy spell that allows you to summon four Ghouls to your side in battle. Meanwhile, Codex Blessing gives your character 20 temporary Hit Points every time they take a long rest. Baludr gate 3gives you more health to survive intense battles.
Be careful when attempting to read the book a second time, as you will need to make another high Wisdom check to avoid gaining the Curse of Forbidden Knowledge again. While this is easily remedied by Law 3, you don't want to take any chances trying to read Thai Necromancy. Baldur's Gate 3 instead of destroying.
