- The Coil Activity Modifiers
The second activity added in Destiny 2’s Season of the Wish is The Coil, an endless version of Riven’s Lair with a twist. Players can push their builds to the limit by completing progressively more difficult encounters as they earn powerful Dragon’s Gifts, new seasonal rewards, and more.

Destiny 2: Every New Weapon In Season Of The Wish
Season of the Wish has brought back some iconic Destiny weapons, including Dragon’s Breath, Breakneck, and more.
The Coil takes the best aspects of Deep Dive and Altars of Summoning to create a satisfying endurance game mode that pushes buildcrafting and secret hunting to its limit. This guide will explain how The Coil activity works, how the roguelite buff system works, and showcase where to find every hidden chest found within the Coil’s platforming sections.
The Coil Activity Modifiers
The Coil is effectively an endless version of Riven’s Lair, featuring the same encounters and boss fights. Unlike Riven’s Lair, The Coil has roguelite elements and aggressive difficulty scaling. Longer runs will be far more difficult, but you will have more buffs to assist you. It’s effectively a hybrid of Deep Dive’s difficulty scaling with Altars of Summoning’s powerful buffs.
But before you set foot in the Dreaming City, you’ll first need to look at The Coil’s daily modifiers and plan your loadout accordingly. These modifiers are listed below.

Don’t let the modifiers intimidate you. Coil runs are comparable to Legend Nightfalls or Legendary Campaign missions. This activity features the same multiplayer scaling as Witch Queen and Lightfall’s respective campaigns, and the limited revive gameplay seen in Nightfalls is brought forward here. Every boss you slay will also raise the enemy’s Power Level by +5, up to a hard cap of +20.
Fortunately, it’s not all bad news. Overcharge weapon bonuses are enabled in Coil runs, granting a 25% damage buff to any weapon archetypes buffed by your Artifact or the activity’s modifiers. And as with most seasonal activities introduced in Year 6, the Coil also features roguelite buffs that can drastically increase the strength of your character.
Dragon’s Gifts
Riven’s available buffs are randomly selected at the start of your Coil run. Additional options are made available upon completing the “Your Wishes, My Commands” challenge.
Before the start of a pathway, your fireteam will be given the chance to harness Riven’s power through the use of Dragon’s Gifts. But as with anything tied to an Ahamkara, these buffs come at a price. In this case, we mean that quite literally. Each Dragon’s Gift must be purchased with Fused Wishing Glass, an activity currency that is lost when your run ends.
You’ll start each Coil run with 100 Fused Wishing Glass—enough to purchase a single T1 Dragon’s Gift—but additional buffs will require more currency. You can earn more Wishing Glass Shards by defeating enemies, completing encounters, and destroying pots scattered throughout the level. Shards you pick up are also given to your allies, so don’t be afraid to grab any shards you find.
Clearing A Pathway
Every Coil run is broken up into sets of encounters called Pathways. A Pathway consists of four encounters and a boss fight, the same length as a Riven’s Lair run. The mechanics within each encounter are also the same as Riven’s Lair, although the addition of Wishing Glass Shards does encourage you to move around more.
During platforming sections, you’ll want to break pots and search for hidden chests. Pots provide ample sums of Wishing Glass Shards which are needed to purchase stronger Dragon’s Gifts from Riven. Hidden chests may also be found in each platforming tileset, one per encounter.
Hidden Chests require a certain score threshold to unlock, so be sure that your fireteam is picking up every shard they find.
During combat sections, you’ll want to defeat as many enemies as possible. The more enemies you kill, the more shards you’ll earn and the higher score your fireteam will achieve. Be sure to build up a high score to access the hidden chests found in every platforming section.
Once you defeat a boss, a new Pathway will form and your rewards will spawn. Your fireteam will have a minute to prepare for the next Pathway. Spend your shards to acquire new Dragon’s Gifts, make any build alterations, and make any other preparations you deem necessary. Alternatively, you can leave the Coil run by returning to orbit.

Hidden Chest Locations
Every platforming section contains one hidden chest, all of which are found behind a locked Vex gate. You must achieve a high score in your current Coil run to open these doors. If you don’t grab enough Wishing Glass Shards or kill enough combatants, these doors will remain locked until your next Pathway.
If you equip any cache-detecting mod on your Ghost Shell, every nearby hidden chest will be marked with a HUD icon. Use this mod if you’re struggling to find a particular chest.
Hidden Chest #1: Splintered Geode
When you first enter the Splintered Geode, traverse the chasm and hug the right wall. When you reach the first plate (shown above), look for a small passage in the wall to find the hidden chest.
Hidden Chest #2: Splintered Geode
In the platforming room where you must descend a series of rock platforms, keep descending until you find a lit lantern beside a wall. Instead of jumping across like normal, look for a crack in the wall beside the lantern. Run inside to reach the hidden chest.
Hidden Chest #3: Fetid Conduit
This chest is located in a hidden passage to the left of some exposed blue geodes. If facing the exit portal, it’s to your right.
Hidden Chest #4: Fetid Conduit
We recommend equipping a tracker mod to find this chest. Climb up to the highest platform you can find and look for a narrow slit in the wall across from you (showcased above). Jump across to reach the chest.
