The game's UI database is relaunched with new features, video support, and over 55,000 screenshots

The creator of the game's user interface database Edd Coates has The gigantic repository has been renewed and relaunched to help designers find inspiration when creating their user interfaces.

The database is a free resource created to provide a quick and efficient way to find UI reference materials. It currently contains over 55,000 screenshots and over 1,700 videos from exactly 1,341 titles.

In a post on XCoates explained that the new-look 2.0 database is nearly three years in the making, and includes new features like the ability to filter content by screen type, controls, textures, patterns, HUD elements, color, and more.

Other new additions include a “rebuilt from the ground up” gallery viewer to give users instant access to information describing a variety of screen elements, such as icon usage and font size; viewers that can be used to change the appearance of images and videos (including colorblind filters); and video support that allows the database to serve as a reference for animations, screen flow, game states, mechanics, and gameplay feel.

“What started as a promised anniversary update in 2021 quickly spiraled into what would become the biggest project of my life. life. As wonderful as the original Game UI Database was, there were a huge number of features that I really wanted to add that I had always wanted when I was a junior. So what you see here is three years of hard work, rebuilding everything from scratch in an attempt to create the dream website I've had in my mind for over a decade,” wrote Coates in the 2.0 changelog.

“2.0 is just the beginning (but please don't make me do a 3.0)! Stay tuned for more feature updates in the coming weeks and more games than you can imagine. But for now: sit back, relax, and enjoy exploring this site.”
