In season 1, McKay and his co-star JD Payne introduced several key locations from JRR Tolkien's original lore, including the island kingdom of Númenor and the Elven city of Lindon. Moreover, Rings of Power The season 1 finale also showed Daniel Weyman's Stranger heading into the uncharted lands of Eastern Rhûn.

talking to Screen Rant ahead Rings of Power Season 2 debut, McKay and executive producer Lindsey Weber revealed where the show will travel to in Middle Earth. McKay teased that he couldn't remember all of the original filming locations because of the season's extensive 33-week shoot. the Dark Forest where the giant spider Shelob livesand a growing evil begins to inhabit the lands of Mordor. He also explained this Barrow-downs and Rhûn will also appear in the new season. Check out their comments below:

Patrick McKay: Where does Shelob live, the Black Forest? [Laughs] Well, Mordor has some very scary places, and especially now that the sun has gone down, evil will creep in. God, where did we film this? I don't remember, because we shot for eight, nine months, we shot in forests all over England.

Lindsey Weber: 33 weeks.

Patrick McKay: So I can't remember exactly where our horse passed. [Laughs]

Lindsey Weber: But it was so inspiring to be here with the amazing, old, ancient forests. As in the books, our characters walk a lot in the forest at night this season and encounter very scary creatures. So we got to live with them in the forest at night, which was exciting and our actors were real troopers in that regard.

Patrick McKay: We have more places to go. We go to the Barrow-downs a little late in the season. Obviously they are traveling in Rhun. God, where else can we go? We find a community of stewards in the desert yet to come. The map of Middle-earth is endless, and hopefully around every corner there's a new, weird, and wonderful place.

Rings of Power Season 2 Fills in the Blank Movie

Peter Jackson Films Shine on the Mounds.

Long before McKay and Payne brought the Second Age of Middle-earth to people's screens, audiences were enthralled by the vast and intricately crafted films. The Lord of the Rings film trilogy directed by Peter Jackson. Having managed to bring Tolkien's epic saga to life where many previously thought such a feat would be impossible, Jackson's films would spend a lot of time introducing audiences to some of Tolkien's most iconic locations. However, even with those films' extended runtimes, it was impossible and impractical to visit every place from the original books.

An important part of Dúnedain history, the peoples of Númenor first established their colonies in Middle-earth at Kurgan or Tirn Gorta.

One such place is the same Barrow-downs that McKay says will appear later Rings of power season 2. An important part of Dunedain history, the peoples of Númenor first established their colonies in Middle-earth, the Barrow-Downs or Tyrn Gorthad. But then they are pursued by Kurga-wights, summoned by Sauron's loyal servant, the Witch-king of Angmar. Most importantly, in Tolkien's books Frodo and his friends encountered the first real danger of their journey at the mound-down.Until Tom is rescued by Bombadil.

with The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power By introducing Tom Bombadil (played by Rory Kinnear) and his own version of the Barrow-downs, the Prime Video show seems intent on making up for what Jackson gave. The Lord of the Rings had to leave films. What's more, given the vast and richly detailed nature of Tolkien's Middle-earth, it also seems likely that the Mounds won't be the last place McKay and Payne get their first chance to bring to life on screen.

The first three episodes The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power Season 2 begins airing on August 29, with new episodes every Thursday.
