As soon as vanilla Persona 5 launched in 2016 to much fanfare, the universe surrounding the Phantom Thieves began to grow and expand, making Persona 5 one of the most beloved JRPGs to date. We’ve dungeon-crawled, we’ve danced, we’ve gone to the movies, and we’ve tactfully gone to war with the cast of the game by now!

And after spending so much time with the Phantom Thieves, we wanted to shine a light onto the voice cast of Persona 5 to highlight the names and faces behind some of our favorite characters. Here’s an updated Persona 5 universe cast list.

Updated on November 22, 2023 by Gabrielle Castania: With several spin-off games in the Persona 5 universe vastly expanding the voice cast for Persona 5, we’ve come back to our list of Persona 5 voice actors to update it. Not only does it follow our current publishing guidelines now, but we’ve included a few more voice actors from the spin-offs to offer a complete Persona 5 cast list.

14 Joker: Xander Mobus

Although Joker doesn’t talk all that much throughout the majority Persona 5, you’ll still hear Xander Mobus every now and again. The strong, silent protagonist is a trope in JRPGs, but you’ll still get plenty of flavor text as you interact with the game’s UI and spirited shouting during battle scenes.

Though Mobus was relatively new to voice acting when vanilla Persona 5 came out in 2016, he’s enjoyed a fruitful career ever since. Since then, he’s received voice credits in shows like Bleach, Jujutsu Kaisen, and Boruto.

13 Morgana: Cassandra Lee Morris

You get to see each of the Phantom Thieves expressing a range of emotions, but there’s maybe none as vocal or varied as Morgana. Cassandra Lee Morris delivers an excellent performance with Mona, shouting words of encouragement, gasping in surprise, and meowing when Morgana – begrudgingly – needs to act like a cat.

After getting started in voice acting as Cere-Cere in Sailor Moon, Morris has been active in anime voice work since the 1990s. When it comes to gaming, some of her other biggest credits are in League of Legends, Fortnite, Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes.

12 Ryuji Sakamoto: Max Mittelman

Bold, brash, and typically in-your-face, you hear an awful lot of commentary out of Ryuji whether he’s in our party or not, with hardly a cutscene passing without something from the brazen blond. Max Mittelman certainly had his work cut out for him with Ryuji’s permanent loudmouth, but he gives Ryuji a spirit that’s hard to ignore.

But Mittelman is no stranger to voicing characters of Ryuji’s ilk. He also gives voice to Arataki Itto in Genshin Impact, Harry Osborn in the Spider-Man TV series, and Saitama in One Punch Man.

11 Ann Takamaki: Erika Harlacher

You first meet Ann Takamaki when you rescue her from Kamoshida’s Palace, where she awakens to her Persona in an effort to stand up for herself against a pervy teacher. Once she joins the group, Ann’s a firecracker when she needs to be, but a cheerful teammate at all times.

Erika Harlacher has been in the voice acting industry for almost two decades now, having loaned her voice to characters like Venti in Genshin Impact, Elizabeth in The Seven Deadly Sins, Kurapika in Hunter x Hunter, and more.

10 Yusuke Kitagawa: Matt Mercer

Yusuke is so taken in by aesthetics and all things art that you can even kind of tell in his voice, always lofting and speaking about beauty and food. He joins your team after standing up to his mentor, Ichiryusai Madarame, in Persona 5 and serves as both a voice of reason and one of comedic relief.

And while Matt Mercer has found his home these days in Critical Role, his incredibly popular streamed Dungeons and Dragons series, he’s also got credits in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, Resident Evil 6, and even Attack on Titan.

9 Makoto Niijima: Cherami Leigh

Okay, sure, it takes a little bit to warm up to Makoto after you’re introduced to her while she’s spying on your group of friends, but once she joins the Phantom Thieves, she’s an invaluable teammate. After she gets caught up in some blackmailing business while sticking her nose where it didn’t belong, she undergoes a complete character transformation and joins you to kick some ass.

Cherami Leigh has been acting and voice acting since the mid-1990s, boasting credits from major properties like One Piece, Sailor Moon Crystal, NieR: Automata, and Cyberpunk 2077.

8 Futaba Sakura: Erica Lindbeck

You may hear Futaba’s voice more than any other character, as your team’s definitive navigation expert. After you free the delightful shut-in from a prison of her own making and help her handle some unresolved grief, Futaba can be heard throughout the remainder of Persona 5 helping the Phantom Thieves learn where to go and just what they’re up against.

Erica Lindbeck voicesPersona 5’s endearing introvert, and the actress did a brilliant job of conveying Futaba’s sense of humor and surprising depth. Lindbeck has also lent her talents to series like Spider-Man, Far Cry, and Fire Emblem.

7 Haru Okumura: Xanthe Huynh

Iconically demure both in speech and in stature, Haru Okumura is the last to join the Phantom Thieves when you help save her from an arranged marriage made by a father with twisted, business-centric motives. But this tiny lady packs a big punch on the battlefield, and Haru makes an excellent addition to any dungeon-crawling team.

Although Xanthe Huynh has become known these days for her striking performance as Haru, you can also hear her in games like Honkai: Star Rail, Fire Emblem: Three Houses, and Saints Row.

6 Goro Akechi: Robbie Daymond

A contentious addition to the group and only temporary in his availability before he goes back to being your nemesis once again, Goro Akechi is quite the divisive character. The Japanese public loves him as the “Detective Prince,” but the Phantom Thieves find him to be a thorn in their side more often than not.

And while Akechi might have a singular focus, his voice actor, Robbie Daymond, certainly doesn’t, boasting a 17-year career so far in voice acting. His credits include iconic titles like Jujutsu Kaisen, Sailor Moon, and Spider-Man.

5 Kasumi Yoshizawa: Laura Post

We bet you can probably hear the word “senpai” in Kasumi’s voice, can’t you? Added to the group in Persona 5 Royal, Kasumi Yoshizawa is an underclassman who begins attending Shujin Academy and finds herself involved with the Phantom Thieves after they help her come to terms with the person she really is.

But while Kasumi is a new addition to the Persona 5 universe, her voice actor, Laura Post, is an industry titan. She’s got voice acting credits in everything from Genshin Impact to Kill la Kill to One Punch Man.

4 Nagi: Kikuko Inoue

Persona Q2: New Cinema Labyrinth takes place inside a movie theater that Nagi curates, where she’s been “protecting” Hikari since the world went awry. You later learn that – as Persona games are known to do at the end – Nagi has been Enlil, a deity seeking to inflict their own twisted “salvation” onto the collective public.

While the majority of the Persona games received English dubs, Q2 is a Japanese-only port with English subtitles, but Kikuko Inoue does a wonderful job conveying the feeling even if there’s a language barrier. She’s got credits in the Japanese versions of Code Geass, Fairy Tail, and Fire Emblem.

3 Hikari: Misato Fukuen (PQ2)

A bullied girl with the dream to make it big as a director, inspired by the love of her father and film, Hikari’s had a rough go of things by the time you meet her in Persona Q2: New Cinema Labyrinth. As you progress, Hikari reveals more about who she is, leading eventually to her confronting her own fears and changing her heart.

Japanese version anime lovers are sure to recognize Misato Fukuen in PQ2 after her roles in shows like Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, My Hero Academia, and Sailor Moon Crystal.

2 Erina: Leeanna Albanese

You’re introduced to Erina when she helps Joker and Morgana escape from Lady Marie’s Kingdom in Persona 5 Tactica, and she assists them in freeing the remaining Thieves from her clutches. Before long, Erina has joined the Phantom Thieves as they help the rebellion across several Kingdoms, eventually playing a pivotal role in the end-game plot.

Leeanna Albanese is relatively new to the world of voice acting, hitting the scene in 2016, and has eight acting credits on her IMDb page including other work in video games and television mini-series.

1 Toshiro Kasukabe: MacLeod Andrews

Though you meet Toshiro Kasukabe as another prisoner in Lady Marie’s castle, you soon learn that he’s the central character of the happenings in Persona 5 Tactica. The Kingdoms you’re fighting through harken back to elements of the life he’s trying to escape, and it’s up to the Phantom Thieves to help him overcome his traumas.

MacLeod Andrews has been voice acting sporadically since the late 2000s, with an avalanche of credits beginning in 2019 when he took on the role of the Narrator for several of the Animorphs books.
