These official D&D cartoon miniatures let you relive the '80s classic in your own campaign, now with its iconic DM and villain.

With Dungeons & Dragons’ 50th anniversary coming up in 2024, celebrations for the legendary RPG’s anniversary are in full swing. Among the many birthday gifts on the way for fans of the fantasy RPG is a set of figurines from miniatures maker WizKids that bring some of the icons of the D&D universe to life, and Dicebreaker offers an exclusive look at two of the most iconic.

The D&D Icons of the Realms: 50th Anniversary set includes, as you might have guessed, 50 pre-painted miniatures. That includes 25 different characters and creatures from D&D history, each in two different variants: one based on their first appearance in the role-playing game’s first edition from 1974, and one based on their most recent update in D&D 5E. (In addition to the 50 standard miniatures, there will also be 10 rare and secret figures that you’ll be trying to hunt down for the first time.)

Alongside classic monsters like bugbears, mimics, and pit fiends – some of which have never had official figures before – and characters pulled straight from D&D lore like Mordenkainen, Strahd von Zarovich, and Vecna, who recently appeared in Stranger Things and will have a starring role in this year’s new 5E adventure, Eve of Evil, there will be especially fun cameos from characters seen in the beloved ‘80s Dungeons & Dragons cartoon.

Dicebreaker can exclusively reveal miniatures for the animated series' big bad sorcerer, Venger (who is “big” in a very literal sense, as he stands around seven feet tall in the show) and the group's guiding Dungeon Master, who has become the de facto view of a D&D DM for those of a certain age.

The addition of Venger and the Dungeon Master to the previously revealed 50th Anniversary miniatures for Bobby the Barbarian, his thieving sister Sheila, and Uni, the baby unicorn who becomes Bobby’s companion, means you can now bring the entire main cast of the D&D cartoon to your tabletop.

The 50th anniversary models join figures of their castmates—Presto the Wizard, Diana the Acrobat, Eric the Knight, and Hank the Ranger—released in an earlier D&D miniatures set based on the Dragons of Stormwreck Island starter set to round out the core lineup from the 1980s animated show. (The Stormwreck Island set also includes a figure of a cleric from the adventure itself alongside the cartoon characters.)

Like WizKids’ other D&D booster packs, the 50th Anniversary set will be available in randomized packs, each containing one large miniature and three small or medium miniatures. Each pack will cost $25, or you can purchase a block of eight packs (with 32 miniatures inside) for $200.

Along with the miniatures, WizKids has already released a non-miniature Red Dragon Wyrmling foam figure for D&D's 50th anniversary, standing just under two and a half feet tall—it's yours for just $650.
