This New Citizen Watch is the Perfect Combination of Tradition and Modern Style

Since its launch in 1918, Citizen has consistently made a name for itself as a maker of high-quality watches in an affordable range. Given the multitude of brands on the market today, this is a market that is particularly difficult to corner. But even among the growing crowd of competitors, the Japanese brand continues to differentiate itself thanks to its penchant for developing inspiring new timepieces that blend tradition with sharp design and functionality. The latest addition in this vein comes from Citizen’s Attesa Collection; it draws inspiration from nothing less than the layers of the Earth’s crust.

The Attesa watch series was launched in 1987, but this new Earth-inspired design offers a blend of the collection’s classic chronograph look with modern beauty, including a dial with touches of green, purple, and blue tones. Both the case and bracelet are made of scratch-resistant titanium and feature a black diamond-like carbon (DLC) coating. While the watch is large at 44.6mm, it does so without appearing over the top or flashy.

The new Citizen Attesa watch uses Eco-Drive technology and can be powered by any light source. It features 27-city world time, 1/20-second chronograph, coordinated universal time (UTC) display and perpetual calendar.

The functionality side doesn’t miss a thing either. The watch features Citizen’s famous Eco-Drive technology and can be powered by any light source, so you don’t have to change batteries. It’s water-resistant to 100 meters, and also features 27-city world time, a 1/20-second chronograph, a universal coordinated time (UTC) display, and a perpetual calendar. That kind of functionality, along with high-end (but not exactly luxurious) materials, has always helped the brand stand out from other, more affordable watchmakers.

Compared to the regular Citizen price point, this new Attesa Collection release comes at a pretty steep increase of $2,295. That shouldn’t come as a huge surprise considering its limited-edition status, with only 1,900 unnumbered pieces being released worldwide. Overall, for loyal Citizen fans, the brand’s latest standout is still a bargain for anyone willing to spend money on quality and style without going overboard.
