Today's Connections Category Tips
17 AUGUST No. 432
In Connectionsthere's quite a bit of guesswork ahead as you try to figure out what the editor is trying to put together. We've tried to take some of these possibilities out of the equation early on by giving you some pointers on what the categories are:
- One category is thinking aloud
- One category is something that can be found under the sink
- A category is exactly what you think
- A category is about the styles of a particular object
As we said before, today's puzzle is a bit odd. Some interesting choices are made, and the last category stands out from the rest. With that in mind, here are the category names:

LANGUAGE |
It felt the easiest, although LANGUAGE might be in the next category for fairly obvious reasons. However, there it is has long been a word associated with LANGUAGE and DIALECT. In my opinion, the SPEECH is the strangest here, because the SPEECH is more about a single moment than a developing process – perhaps idealized by Aragorn's speech at the Black Gates – but it makes enough sense to be here.

This is when the puzzle gets weird, and I'd rather go with the Sims' version of a romantic pastime. It's a slightly odd choice for a fairly family-friendly puzzle, though the target demographic might be adults in this case.
A canoodle is an extremely funny choice on its own as a word for the category as a whole and I have to admit I laughed when I saw what word they chose to use for the category.

Very different from the last two categories, this one one is generally about things kept together in a small box. Band-aids, bandages, and tape are included in almost every first aid kit, but scissors may not be. It depends on how nice the set is and what scissors they choose to go with it. However, with three categories solved, it should make solving the rest of the puzzle easier.

There are many different styles of houses, however these home styles actually match each other in a rustic way even a more general category name is given. They all have a similar vibe and aesthetic depending on the part of the country you're in.
Either way, decking out any of these with just enough frills to make it look like you're actually on a desert retreat is a 10/10 option that can only lead to more happiness.
