With the premiere Follower Season 2 is already setting itself up for a storyline dilemma, and the most frustrating part was that it didn't feel the need to put itself in that position. Follower Season 1 was incredibly successful for CBS; according to the network, it was the most successful original show in recent years. Part of that success was due to the fun premise of following missing-person “bounty” Colter Shaw (Justin Hartley), but also because Follower's engaging cast of characters, both main characters and one-off characters that appear in each individual episode.
According to Nielsen,
Follower
Season 1 averaged 8.28 million viewers per episode in the 18-49 demographic.

What happened to their father and why he was killed was a mystery Follower season 1and the show barely scratched the surface. Follower Season 2 introduced another cold case that was poised to take over much of the narrative's focus.
Tracker Season 2's missing sister storyline risks distracting from Colter's father storyline.
There is much more to the Ashton Shaw murder
Introducing a story arc that will last more than a few episodes, if not an entire season, is not a problem in itself. That's the problem Follower one of which already exists: the aforementioned mystery of what really happened to Colter and Russell's father. one of which already exists: the aforementioned mystery of what really happened to Colter and Russell's father.
Although Russell's re-entry into Colter's life finally clears him of his suspicions, the question remains as to who killed their father and how much Mary Dove, her mother, knew. It turns out that their father was a brilliant man who went off the grid after falling out with the US government or other powerful figures. It's a complicated mystery that will take time to unravel, but introducing a new storyline of her ex's missing sister will certainly draw attention away from her.
It is possible that this storyline writers preferred to continue the mystery of Ashton's death only in 2012. Follower Jensen Ackles Season 2 episodes featuring Russell Shaw. If so, It's understandable that they needed a solo storyline for Colter to fill in the gaps when Russell wasn't around.. This may be a little disappointing, as it's unclear how many episodes Ackles will be in. We know he will be in more than one movie, but how many more is unknown. If it's a few people, at this rate it can take years to unravel the mystery of their father's death, a frustratingly slow process.
Tracker can't balance both secrets without sacrificing a successful base
Sophomore Seasons Are Too Often a Fall Trap
If Follower Season 2 doesn't leave out either the Gina Pickett cold case/Camille Pickett romance or the Ashton Shaw mystery, and it's going to be incredibly difficult to pull off the case-of-the-week format that was so successful in its first season and still use it. . It's virtually impossible to devote enough time to each mystery to meaningfully continue their story without leaving out or at least shortening some of the one-off episodes and their circumstances. This is a problem that often plagues weekly procedurals with longer arcs in their sophomore seasons and beyond.when a show bites off more than it can chew too quickly and abandons its premise to the show's detriment.

I'm Confused About Colter's Love Life After This New Trailer Season 2 Girlfriend Casting
Season 2 of Tracker introduces an on-again, off-again girlfriend from Colter's past, and I'm worried that the show will end up with an unnecessary love interest.
said that Follower Season 2 has two things going for it. First, it is twice as long as season 1, which had 13 episodes. Given that it was CBS' biggest hit in years, it was inevitable that the second season would receive a larger order of episodes than the first, and indeed, season 2 received a full 22-episode order. This gives him more time to devote to longer story arcs. Secondly, the showrunners mentioned in previous interviews that they did not intend to create any Follower Spinoffs right now because they want to focus on season 2 they are pulling their focus in too many directions causing the quality to drop.
Viewers Didn't Need A Missing Sister Plot (Or Potential New Romance)
It Just Makes Things Harder
None of this means that Followerits writers will deftly balance both big mysteries with the episodic storytelling format that has been so successful with audiences. Still, it's disappointing that the show set itself up for this potential problem in the first place because it never happened. The missing sister plot came out of nowhere Follower Season 2 premieres as his ongoing love affair with Camille suddenly comes to light. It felt difficult, and that's partly why the show didn't need an extra storyline to have forward momentum. There's already a lot going on, from Reenie's new firm to Teddy and Velma's breakup to Colter's tangled family story. hopefully Follower Season 2 could do it all without compromising on stories or character development.
