Travis Kelce Reacts to Jason's 'Hateful' Phone Smashing Incident

Jason Kelce took a few minutes on the latest episode of his show to “clear the air” about an unfortunate interaction he had with a Penn State student. New Peaks podcast. His brother and co-host Travis Kelce also made it clear he was behind him.

Over the weekend, Jason was caught on video being harassed by his student, who repeatedly asked him: “How does it feel to have your brother be a total d*ck for dating Taylor Swift?” In response, Jason grabbed the student's phone and slammed it on the ground. He then got in the boy's face and shouted, “Who is it now?”

“I'm going to address this, because once again it needs time and hopefully we can stop talking about this really stupid situation,” he said at the beginning of the episode. “I'm not happy with the situation. My reaction bought him time and it also caused the situation to become infamous. That's what I regret. He didn't deserve the attention, it's really stupid and if I keep walking it would be a mistake.” nothingburger.”

“Now he's out there and perpetuating more hate,” Jason continued. “The thing I regret most was saying that word… It was an inhumane thing, and it touched me and provoked a reaction. In the heat of the moment, I thought, 'What can I say back to him?' I said, “I'm going to throw this back in his face.”

He added that a video using the word “hateful” has now emerged that has been watched by millions of people.

When it was his turn to speak, Travis admitted that he knew the incident had upset his brother.

“A clown came up to you talking about your family and you reacted in a way that defended your family and you may have used some words that you'll regret using,” Travis said. “And it's a situation where you kind of have to learn a lesson, and I think the fact that you own it and talk about it shows how sincere you are to a lot of people in the world.”

“You can't choose hate, that's not who you are,” he added.

Jason previously addressed this controversy and apologized for his reaction on the Nov. 4 episode of ESPN. Monday Night Countdown.

“I'm not happy with anything that happened. I'm not proud of it,” he told the audience. “In a heated moment, I chose to meet hate with hate, and I don't think that's a productive thing. I really don't think that leads to rhetoric and that's the right way to do things.”

“At that moment, I fell to a level I shouldn't have fallen to,” he continued. “The bottom line is, I try to live my life by the golden rule. That's what I've always been taught. I try to treat people with common courtesy and respect, and I'll continue to do that moving forward. I fell short on that this week, I'll continue to move forward to do that.”

Think of this as a teachable moment.
