United Airlines is growing its global footprint with the largest international expansion in the company's history, adding eight new destinations to its worldwide network in 2025.
The October 10 announcement confirmed that United would add nonstop routes from the US to Nuuk, Greenland; Palermo, Italy; Bilbao, Spain; Madeira Island, Portugal and Faro, Portugal; Dakar, Senegal; Nice, France; and Venice, Italy. Dakar flying will continue throughout the year, while Nice and Venice will be seasonal options.
United also plans to expand its trans-Pacific presence with new routes from Tokyo's Narita airport. From Tokyo, you can fly United to Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia; Kaohsiung, Taiwan; and Koror, Palau.
“No other airline offers customers more seamless access to unique international destinations and experiences in the United States than United,” Patrick Quayle, United senior vice president of global network planning and alliances, said in a statement. “Our network offers our customers the most choice and variety, whether they are looking for a relaxing seaside getaway, a once-in-a-lifetime adventure trip, or exploring some of the liveliest city breaks around the world.”

Nonstop flights from Newark to Faro will operate four days a week starting from May 16, while flights to Palermo three days a week will begin on May 21. This will be followed by a Bilbao route on 31 May and three weekly Madeira flights from 7 June. The inaugural flight between Newark and Nuuk will be on June 14.
Flights from Washington Dulles International Airport to Dakar begin on May 23. Meanwhile, direct flights from Tokyo to Ulaanbaatar will start on May 1.
“The savvy traveler has been to Paris, Rome and Madrid so many times that they're looking for something different,” Quayle told reporters about the announcement.
