Airship Syndicate has cut 16 employees in its second round of layoffs this year. Twelve full-time workers and four contractors were affected, following January layoffs that saw 12 employees let go.
Co-founders Ryan Stefanelli and Joe Madureira attributed the new cuts to “the difficult challenges our industry is facing.” They also said that the pay cuts they made in January are still in effect and that they have been self-funding the studio.
In November 2023, Airship Syndicate concluded its relation with publisher Digital Extremes. The studio has secured full rights to its free-to-play action MMO Road seeker, that it self-deleted last May to “make some changes.”
These changes included removing the game's live-service elements and converting it to a single-player title with co-op. This revamped version is currently in Early Access.
Madureira and Stefanelli also said that the 50-person Airship Syndicate team “remains committed” to completing The Wayfinder roadmap and “development of future projects”. At the time of writing, these other projects have not yet been announced.
“We express our deepest gratitude to all our employees,” they concluded, “both past and present, for their hard work and dedication.”
