In a 2012 article Bioscopistthe writer explains that he worked on the linguistic consultant Dr. Anil spoke to Biltoo. Prometheus, and requested an English translation of the line. The lineage is Proto-Indo-European, which David is seen learning earlier in the film. on stage he says:This man is here because he doesn't want to die. He believes that you can give him more life.” The translation clarifies Weyland's goal, which is to meet his creators in hopes of achieving immortality.


Guy Pearce's portrayal of Weyland is one of the most interesting characters in the film Alien although there are few scenes in the mythology. It has expanded Alien: The Covenant is referenced in its opening scene and even new Alien: Romulus links the prequels to the originals. He is a wealthy billionaire who created a god complex and finds himself with the help of the Prometheus team finding answers to humanity's biggest questions. Ironically, he was killed right after meeting the Last Engineer.

While the film hints that David has his own motivations here, what he says to the Last Engineer isn't really provocative and raises more questions about why the entity reacts the way it does. I guess so the reason he curses them is because his civilization has already declared itself against humanity and he is surprised that they are waking up.. He probably saw them as an obstacle to getting on his ship and getting off the planet. Prometheus it's a little confusing, but there are some interesting suggestions for the larger franchise.

A deleted scene from Prometheus further explores this exchange and provides the motivation for The Last Engineer's attack. However, that is not what ultimately happens in the film.
