Wolverine not just a guy with claws and a healing factor. He's an animal hero who isn't a mutant at all. Given the traumatic past of a man with anger issues and the number of times Marvel has tried to kill him off, there's plenty of reason for him to be a rage fighter – but This new era of Wolverine pulls no punches.
Right out of the gate, Wolverine shows his courage beyond the metal of his adamantium skeleton. In Wolverine #1Saladin Ahmed is a rebranded version of the old Wolverine villain, who is wanted by the new team of Martín Kokkolo and Brian Valenza to hunt down Cyber Logan and bring him down as a wild and rabid beast. But when they meet, Wolverine does more than just win the fight. After beating Cyber, Logan notes that while Cyber's skin may be adamantium, his insides are not, and he proceeds to beat the villain to a pulp. Not only that, but he pokes out one of his eyes to show it off with a terrifying look this new Wolverine has completely abandoned his humanity.
Wolverine Is More Beast Than Man Now
Wolverine changes his title to a wolf-like mythos
Wolverine has always been an anti-hero, given that he isn't afraid to kill like some other heroes. And while this newest issue isn't the first of Wolverine's blood-soaked outings, it's one of the first to take the next step in Wolverine's evolution. He's always been a predator, but in this fight sequence, there is a great lack of humanity. And combat is not the only way this is seen.
It looks like Wolverine is making the transition from a beast-like hero that most fans know nothing about. hero of wolf-like symbolism. Logan runs with the wolves, is completely accepted by them, unlike the humans and mutants who do not accept him, and later declares that he is defending his pack in battle. Wolverine has fully embraced his animal side, but he has become a symbol of a more dangerous beast than just Wolverine.
This Isn't Wolverine's First Run at Losing His Humanity
Wolverine Gets a Terrible Redesign X-Men
This isn't even Wolverine's scariest look, considering he has a beastly design that escapes his human nose. In X-Men #25 By Fabian Nicieza, Andy Kubert and Matt Ryan, Magneto removed all of the adamantium from Wolverine's skeleton, revealing that the Weapon X program had only stopped his mutation. What emerged was a fully mutant Wolverine, transformed into a Hulk-like beast with bony claws and a gigantic body.
But neither this version, nor Old Man Logan, nor any of the other versions of Wolverine can compete with this newest Wolverine. Although he does not physically transform into any animal version of himself, he is slowly changing internally. His humanity fades away with every kill and every rage he goes on. The former Wolverine was a rabid beast – this Wolverine is a skilled predator, completely intelligent even within his bloodlust.
Wolverine Fell Into Animal Instinct As Vampire Lord
Wolverine Continues to Get Dark and Red
There is also a version of Wolverine that briefly became a vampire lord, where his animal instincts and bloodlust were heightened. This is yet another example of an external factor bringing out the innate instinct within Logan. While all these versions of Wolverine look scary, this is the scariest aspect of his character he had this animal instinct and this desire to hunt within him.
From all of these story arcs, it seems like Marvel always intended Wolverine to be its darkest, most brutal character. It's no secret that Wolverine loves to kill. But his latest atrocity against Cyber shows that he has finally and completely completed his evolution into a dehumanized being. Wolverine can only return to the side of the heroes so many times before he is lost forever in rage.
Is Wolverine still a hero?
Or Is He More Animal Than Man?
case Wolverine #1he does more than go to the dark side – he plays with his food as he allows Cyber to escape, bleed out in the snow, and later be captured. Wolverine loves to hunt and chase. Still, Wolverine isn't just a mindless beast who likes to kill. He's a predator, and the worst thing a villain can do is run away from Wolverine – which means he will hunt you down later.
In the end, Wolverine decides to help the injured Nightcrawler by showing a more human-like side to his wolf side. After all, animals are not monsters. Although he has officially left the X-Men, Wolverine has a pack and will always protect his friends no matter what. His protection of his friends is so brutal and so dark that in the end Wolverine may no longer be seen as a hero.
