After more than 40 years, The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom shakes up the franchise by having the protagonist now be Zelda. The game follows Zelda as she must save the kingdom and Link as the main character for the first time. It breaks the conventional The Legend of Zelda story structure: an event takes place and then players take on the role of Link to go on an adventure and save the kingdom of Hyrule.
Players must use Link's sword and shield, instead using Zelda and Echo's magic to help them navigate the game's various levels. While Zelda is a welcome change as a protagonist, especially after never having been the lead before, players may be interested to know if Link is playable. Echoes of wisdom.

Link Playable in Tutorial
The tutorial for Link makes its playable appearance Echoes of wisdom, where it is fully equipped with all the weapons a player could hope for. After Link rescues Zelda during the initial mission, the perspective will change and the player will remain as Zelda for the rest of the game.
The transition almost acts as a learning cycle in itself, acting as a way to help players transition from playing as Link to Zelda's new playable character. Shortly after this transition, Link is captured by the rifts and it's up to Zelda to save him.
This isn't Link's only appearance in the game, though he is a playable character. Link will make several appearances as Echo Link, who Zelda must fight to advance in the game. As Link, he himself makes a brief appearance and then reappears at the end. Although the player cannot be her, she can count on his support. She will assist Zelda during the final boss battle and help clear the way to victory against Null.

Link is encouraged Zelda: Echoes of Wisdomespecially in the clothing department. There are plenty of opportunities for Zelda to wear outfits that honor Link. Zelda is seen sporting her head throughout the story, a very thoughtful move by the creators.
It's nice to see hints of Link throughout the game, showing his importance as a character in the franchise while also giving Zelda a chance to shine.
Satoshi Terada, Grezzo's designer and director, discussed how it was the perfect ensemble after much discussion, saying, “This is the hood that Link wears at the beginning of the game and is there to represent Link getting stronger after many adventures..” Link's spirit, though not his physical form, is present in the game.
Playing as Zelda is definitely a change Echoes of wisdomespecially for long time fans who are used to playing as Link. However, using flashbacks and seeing the battle from a different character's perspective deepens the lore and ultimately makes the story more impactful. It's nice to see hints of Link throughout the game, showing his importance as a character in the franchise while also giving Zelda a chance to shine.
