Emily Wickersham looks at him NCIS exit three years later. In season 11, Wickersham joined NCIS Ziva played Eleanor “Ellie” Bishop, an NSA agent who took over with the titular agency after David's departure. Bishop proved to be a capable agent and was at the center of a number of dramatic storylines during her time on the show. He left the team NCIS season 18 and hasn't been back since.
Wickersham was recently spotted Off Duty: NCIS Revisited A podcast hosted by former stars Michael Weatherly and Cote de Pablo. During the conversation (via CinemaBlend), the actor talked about what it was like to break up NCIS when he did, he explained that it happened at a time in his life and that it would be more significant than he originally realized. Wickersham said:
It took a while. I left the show, a month later I found out I was pregnant… So it was a combination of being stressed and really trying to relax and figure out what things would be like without a job. Because, as you know, they all consume. When you're on that show, your life is all NCIS. All day, every day, and you don't have much time to do much else. So this has been a real fix for me.
Getting pregnant was wild, and then I moved to New York shortly after because my boyfriend lived here. It was a strange moment. It was beautiful and strange. As you both know, it's strange to let go of something that's been ingrained in you for years.
It definitely was. I don't know if I was necessarily ready, but it happened and it was amazing. I was ready to leave the show. The time came and I was ready to move on to something else and I guess this was another thing I needed to move on to. So it was good.

of the bishop NCIS the speech was quite a dramatic event. Ziva's surprise return in season 16 puts Bishop in contact with Odette Malone (Elayne J. Taylor), a CIA agent who works with Ziva on covert cases. The meeting proved fruitful, as Bishop eventually left NCIS to work with Malone on missions. For this he had to discredit himself. He revealed that he had leaked NSA secrets and therefore could no longer be an agent. This gave him room for a more secret work; presumably working on vital missions ever since.
Meanwhile, the flagship show may not be the best place for Bishop.
Given his tarnished name, it's unlikely that Bishop works for NCIS. one more time. However, Wickersham could still come back. Bishop may return to DC to secretly pass on some information about a case or simply to reunite with old teammates. He became close with both Gibbs (Mark Harmon) and Torres (Wilmer Valderrama), and while the former is no longer on the team, the latter is still around. Bishop and Torres' relationship ended on a bittersweet note when they shared a kiss before she left, and the reunion could tie up some loose ends.
Although Bishop and Torres admitted to having feelings for each other, they were never a proper couple.
Meanwhile, the flagship show may not be the best place for Bishop. Weatherly and de Pablo will soon lead their own show, Paramount+ NCIS: Tony and ZivaIn Europe, they will find their characters on the run. With Bishop's status as an undercover operative and his connection to Odette, he could be a great ally for Tony and Ziva. He can give them important information or provide a safe house if needed. View of Wickersham NCIS the podcast suggests that he hasn't completely left the property behind, so maybe there's a future for Bishop.
