The show is an adaptation of Gerard Way's comic book series about a group of kids raised to be superheroes and the long-term effects on their lives. Umbrella Academy The finale follows four seasons, each defined by an apocalyptic event the characters are forced to contend with. Unfortunately, the team sacrifices themselves in hopes of preventing more apocalypse.

Although David Castañeda (Diego) understands the need for tragic events, he still admits that it is painful to witness them. in an exclusive interview with Screen Rant, Castañeda explained that he “in tears when he saw the series finale for the first time, as it marked the painful end of nearly a decade of his life. He expects it to be controversial, but he understands why there is so much anger. Check out his full quote below:


Well, you convince yourself that it's true. When you're an actor and you're trying to make it as grounded and realistic as possible,
you have to trust the journey
. You have to believe this journey that the people who wrote it knew exactly how they wanted it to end. But yes, when I saw it, yes, I shed tears. I was in tears because it represented more than just, “Oh, these characters die or disappear or whatever.”
It represented my six to seven years in this project
. It represented the comfort it gave people at home, and you see them kind of disappear. I'm sure there will be a lot of angry people. I already see it on the internet. Some people say “how dare you!” [Laughs] But you can't leave it open like that and then expect people to—you're giving them false hope. I guess that's the point.
